At the centre of international education in the IB are students aged 3 to 19 with their own learning styles, strengths and challenges. Students of all ages come to school with combinations of unique and shared patterns of values, knowledge and experience of the world and their place in it. Promoting open communication based on understanding and respect, the IB encourages students to become active, compassionate, lifelong learners. An IB education is holistic in nature—it is concerned with the whole person. Along with cognitive development, IB programmes address students’ social, emotional and physical well-being. They value and offer opportunities for students to become active and caring members of local, national and global communities; they focus attention on the values and outcomes of internationally minded learning described in the IB learner profile.
Parents often ask this question. We are proud to have chosen to be part of the IB World Programme. IB World School students develop strong academic, social, and emotional characteristics. We believe they are more likely to excel academically – often better than students on other programmes. Egypt is globally important and needs to develop students that are proud of who they are, where they come from, proud of their traditions and culture – AND are globally aware, tolerant, active, and ready to lead Egypt forward in the 21st Century.
International Baccalaureate® (IB) programmes aim to do more than other curricula by developing inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who are motivated to succeed. The IB’s programmes are different from other curricula because they encourage students of all ages to think critically and challenge assumptions. They develop independently of government and national systems, incorporating quality practice from research and a global community of schools. They also encourage students of all ages to consider both local and global contexts and develop multilingual students.
The International Baccalaureate® (IB) offers a continuum of international education. The programmes encourage both personal and academic achievement, challenging students to excel in their studies and in their personal development.
Primary Years Programme
The PYP prepares students to become active, caring, lifelong learners who demonstrate respect for themselves and others and have the capacity to participate in the world around them. It focuses on the development of the whole child.
Middle Years Programme
A challenging framework that encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world, the MYP is inclusive by design; students of all interests and academic abilities can benefit from their participation.
Research suggests many benefits to choosing the DP. The programme aims to develop students who have excellent breadth and depth of knowledge – students who flourish physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically.
The CP is a framework of international education addressing the needs of students engaged in career-related education. It leads to further/higher education apprenticeships or employment.
MHIS INTERNATIONALLY MINDED LEARNERS
The International Baccalaureate® (IB) learner profile describes a broad range of human capacities and responsibilities that go beyond academic success. The profiles are central to all IB Programmes which begin with the Primary Years Programme (PYP) for ages 3-12.
They imply a commitment to help all members of the school community learn to respect themselves, others and the world around them. Each of the IB’s programmes is committed to the development of students according to the IB learner profile. The profile aims to develop learners who are:
